Santa Ana police search for 2 vehicles accused of fleeing after fatally hitting man

Police were searching for two vehicles accused of fatally hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene in Santa Ana early Friday morning, Nov. 5, officials said.

The man was in the northbound lanes of 800 S. Fairview Street, between McFadden Avenue and Highland Street, when he was struck at around 1:20 a.m., Santa Ana police said. Two vehicles struck the man that fled the scene, in addition to a third vehicle whose driver stayed, according to police.

The first vehicle that struck the man was believed to be an early 2000s Mercedes sedan, followed by a newer model Hyundai, police said. The third vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, also struck the man but the driver remained at the scene and talked to officers, police said.

The man’s identity was not yet known, but he was believed to be in his 40s, according to police.
