Uber, Lyft and DoorDash vow to strike on Valentine’s Day

Planning to Uber out from the airport on Valentine’s Day?

If that’s your preferred mode of transporation you may be out of luck because thousands of Uber, Lyft and DoorDash drivers have vowed to walk off the job to protest low pay and unsafe working conditions.

The independent Rideshare Drivers United union said drivers would turn off their apps Wednesday to protest “the significant decrease in pay we’ve all felt this winter.”

Southern California airports won’t be affected, but airports at these 10 cities will:

  • Austin
  • Chicago
  • Hartford
  • Miami
  • Newark
  • Orlando
  • Philadelphia
  • Pittsburgh
  • Providence
  • Tampa

Justice for App Workers, another group involved in the protest, said drivers are tired of working 80 hours a week to make ends meet while being constantly scared for their safety and worrying about being deactivated with the click of a button.
