SANTA ANA – A tow truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and caused a five-car crash Monday morning, Feb. 5, sending six to the hospital, police said.
None of the injuries, which include those to a 7-year-old, were considered life-threatening, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. Police were investigating and hadn’t decided whether the tow truck driver would be cited for the accident that occurred short before 8 a.m.
Photos from police showed a tow truck with a bent hood resting on the street alongside a Nissan Quest minivan with the back window shattered. Three small cars were also involved in the collision, near North Flower Street and Washington Avenue.
