Suspect arrested in connection to 49ers fan found severely injured at SoFi Stadium

A suspect has been arrested in connection to a 49ers fan at SoFi Stadium being found severely injured during the NFC Championship game over the weekend and was in custody Friday morning, Feb. 4, authorities said.

Police did not confirm whether the suspect had turned himself in or whether he was arrested, but Lt. Nicole Loudermilk did say he was in custody and added that police would be releasing more information later Friday.

An apparent assault left Daniel Luna, 40, of Oakland in a medically induced coma at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, officials have said.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the stadium’s Lot L after a call for medical help about 4:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, which was shortly after kickoff.

Inglewood police were notified about 6:30 p.m. by medical personnel because of the severity of Luna’s condition, Lt. Geoffrey Meeks said Wednesday.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video, which shows Luna mingling with 49ers fans when he appears to shove a man in a Rams jersey from behind, Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts said at a Thursday news conference. The man in the Rams jersey then turns to shove and hit Luna in the mouth, Butts said.

The mayor said the video shows Luna in a white jersey.

Investigators did not had a chance to speak with Luna before he was placed in the medically induced coma, officials said.

Luna traveled to the game alone, CBS Los Angeles reported.
