Santa Ana substitute teacher suspected of molesting students arrested

A substitute teacher at a Santa Ana elementary school was arrested this month on suspicion of molesting multiple students while on campus.

Officers were called to Adams Elementary School after receiving allegations that Peter Morales, 69, molested four girls while in a classroom on May 6, said Sgt. Maria Lopez, a spokesperson for the Santa Ana Police Department. The girls, between the ages of 8 and 9 years old, told school officials that Morales touched them inappropriately, she said.

Each girl was molested individually and at different times throughout the day, police said.

Morales currently works as a substitute but previously worked as a teacher for the Santa Ana Unified School District for 18 years, according to police.

The Santa Ana Unified School District to declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

Morales was booked on one count of child molestation, and was released after posting bail. A court date has not been scheduled, according to inmate records.
