San Bernardino man identified as victim in Hawaiian Gardens weekend shooting

The man shot to death in Hawaiian Gardens over the weekend was a San Bernardino resident, authorities said.

Carlos Alvarez Diaz, 39, died inside a vehicle, according to the coroner’s office.

Deputies responded to a shots fired call at approximately 1:09 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Norwalk Boulevard and 226th Street where they found the victim now identified as Diaz, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds a few blocks east along a residential sidewalk in the 22300 block of Wardham Avenue.

Another man was wounded during the shooting and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not available.

Suspect information was also not available Tuesday.
