OC Sheriff’s Department asks for public’s help in finding man, 61, kidnapped from Midway City home

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department asked on Friday, March 22, for the public’s help in finding a 61-year-old man who was kidnapped last week from his Midway City home.

Two men who deputies say they believe were responsible have been arrested but neither helped them locate Tony Lam. Deputies used “investigative techniques” to find and arrest them, the Sheriff’s Department said, without elaboration.

The night before he was kidnapped, Lam spent time at the LV Restaurant & Lounge in Westminster and the 171 Sky Restaurant in Garden Grove, authorities said.

When he returned to his home, near Hunter Lane and Madison Avenue, in the early hours of March 15, he was confronted in the driveway by a masked man who assaulted him, put him in a car, and drove him away, authorities said.

“Deputies responded to the area and confirmed through interviews and evidence at the scene that an assault and kidnapping did occur,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

Lam has not been in contact with his family, friends or co-workers. Lam is about five-feet-seven and weighs 145 pounds.

The Sheriff’s Department asked that anyone with information about Lam’s disappearance contact its dispatch at 714-647-7000. Anonymous tipsters can call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
