MyPillow’s Mike Lindell permanently banned from Twitter

(CNN) — Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, has been banned from Twitter, according to a Twitter spokesperson.

Twitter made its decision Monday night based on a policy it enacted after the Capitol insurrection whereby people who repeatedly share election misinformation can be permanently banned.

“The account you referenced has been permanently suspended due to repeated violations of our Civic Integrity Policy,” the spokesperson told CNN.

It is not immediately clear which tweets lead to Lindell’s ban. Under the policy, it takes five or more infractions to draw a permanent suspension.

In the wake of the January 6 insurrection, Lindell, 59, a major Republican donor, had continued voicing false statements publicly about the validity of the election. He called the Capitol attack “very peaceful” and blamed “undercover antifa that dressed as Trump people” for the chaos, according to The New York Times. “Donald Trump will be our president for the next four years,” he said earlier this month.

The ban is one of several events that have put Lindell in the headlines in recent days. Last week, he floated the idea that he would run for Minnesota governor, and on Monday he sued the Daily Mail over its report that he had a secret romance with actress Jane Krakowski.

Krakowski, 52, also denied the Daily Mail story, saying that she had never met Lindell. Her press agent issued a statement that included the information: “She is, however, in full-fledged fantasy relationships with Brad Pitt, Regé-Jean Page and Kermit the Frog and welcomes any and all coverage on those.”

Bed Bath and Beyond was among the retailers that stopped selling MyPillow products after Lindell’s statements about the election. Lindell first came into the public eye with his ubiquitous infomercials touting the line of bedding.
