A mountain lion entered an industrial park and then a building in Irvine, where it was tranquilized Tuesday afternoon.
Law enforcement was on scene when the mountain lion was spooked by something and ran into a building with an open door, said Rebecca Barboza, a wildlife biologist with the California Fish and Wildlife Department.

People inside the building were able to scramble out, but the mountain lion had no way of leaving and was tranquilized. It was not known if anyone was injured.
After it was sedated, the cougar was transported to a veterinary clinic for a check-up and to be tagged for future tracking, Barboza said.
The mountain lion will be released in a habitat with plenty of space, a water source, and near deer. The department does not give specific locations for where they release animals, for the animal’s safety.
Over the weekend, a different mountain lion, one that had been tagged, was seen spotted taking a swim in Lake Mission Viejo after spending some time outside a nearby home.
