Motorcyclist killed in Garden Grove after van makes ‘unsafe’ turn into oncoming traffic

A motorcyclist died Saturday after a van made an unsafe turn into oncoming traffic, Garden Grove police said.

The crash occurred at Haster Street and Lampson Avenue before 6:30 p.m.

When Orange County fire paramedics got to the scene, they found the motorcyclist dead, police said in a statement. The motorcyclist has not been identified by the coroner’s office yet.

Garden Grove police said detectives determined the van caused the collision with the motorcycle by making an “unsafe” turn into traffic. Officials didn’t say which direction each vehicle was headed at the time of the crash.

The van driver stayed at the scene and has not been arrested. Detectives are investigating to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash.
