A little over eight months after the passing of Dodgers icon Tommy Lasorda, his wife, Jo Lasorda, has also died.
The Dodgers confirmed Jo Lasorda passed away Monday night at the home in Fullerton she and Tommy shared for most of their 70-year marriage. No cause of death was announced. Jo Lasorda was 91 years old. The team said she was “surrounded by her loved ones at her home.”
Jo is survived by one daughter, Laura, and a granddaughter, Emily Tess.
Born March 14, 1930 in Greenville, South Carolina as Joan Miller, Jo and Tommy Lasorda met at a Greenville Spinners minor-league game during the 1949 season, Tommy’s third as a minor-league pitcher. The Lasordas were married April 14, 1950. Tommy Lasorda died earlier this year on Jan. 7.
The city of Fullerton has planned to honor Tommy Lasorda on Wednesday, what would have been his 94th birthday, declaring it Tommy Lasorda Day.
