Here’s who is vying to represent Orange County in the state legislature

Just one Senate seat — but nine Assembly spots — are up for grabs in Orange County in 2024.

California has a unique primary system for legislative (as well as other races, like for the executive branch and congressional) contests: The top two vote-getters in the March 5 election, regardless of political party, will advance to the general. Races with only two contenders will still have a general election in November, per the secretary of state.

Here’s a list of who has filed to run for state Senate and Assembly in Orange County. Because some of these districts span more than one county, candidates’ information was gathered from the Orange County Registrar of Voters as well as San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties’ registrars.
