Disney Cruise Line adds Catalina Island visits to its schedule

The Disney Cruise Line — with a fleet of five ships, including the Disney Magic, Wonder and Dream — will stop at Catalina Island’s Port of Avalon nine times throughout 2023, offering riders a chance to explore the idyllic location.

The nine-stop schedule comes about a year after the cruise line’s inaugural visit to the Port of Avalon.

“Catalina Island and the Port of Avalon have welcomed visitors to the island via cruise ships since its earliest days as a travel destination beginning in the 1920s,” the Catalina Island Tourism Authority said in a Monday, March 6, announcement. “The port looks forward to welcoming Disney Cruise Line to its impressive lineup of cruise lines that frequent the port today.”

Disney’s cruisers will have various amenities to enjoy on Catalina Island — including its iconic Green Pleasure Pier, Casino Theater, Descanso Beach Club and expansive wilderness, the announcement said.

The Disney Wonder will stop in at the Port of Avalon three times this month — on Thursday, Monday and March 30 — with the Disney Magic’s inaugural visit slated for Oct. 30. That ship will return on Nov. 26 and 30.

The ships are also scheduled to visit the island 11 times in 2024, the announcement said.
