Billionaire Bill Gross must stop loud music, stay away from Laguna Beach neighbor, judge rules

A judge granted the restraining order sought against mega-investor Bill Gross and his girlfriend, requested by his neighbor during a long-running dispute involving music blaring at all hours of the night in their Laguna Beach neighborhood.

Judge Kimberly Knill also tossed out Gross’ dueling complaint that accused his neighbor, Mark Towfiq, of spying on him and his partner, Amy Schwartz, with security cameras on his mansion.

Knill said Towfiq’s use of the cameras – to document a netting structure Gross installed over a $1 million glass sculpture in his backyard, and to listen to whether Gross was continuing to play loud rap and theme song music – was justified.

The judge’s order means Gross must stay 15 feet from Towfiq for the next three years, and he must stop playing the music, including the theme song for “Giligan’s Island,” at a decibel that violates Laguna Beach’s Municipal Code during that stretch.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
