4 found guilty after torture of 15-year-old girl

Three members of an Anaheim family were found guilty Thursday of torturing a 15-year-old girl, while a family friend was convicted of child abuse.

Louis Hill, the girl’s father, Shalonda Hill, her stepmother, Yulonda Parker, her step-grandmother, and Delores Porter, a family friend the girl knew as “auntie,” were accused of torturing the girl over a six-month period in 2018 at the family’s Anaheim home, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Following a bench trial, Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregg L. Prickett found Louis Hill, 41, guilty of torture and child abuse, Shalonda Hill, 41, and Parker, 59, guilty of torture, child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon, and Porter, 61, guilty of child abuse.

From January to June 2018, the girl is believed to have been the victim of escalating violence, ultimately suffering from chipped teeth, ligature marks on her wrist from being strapped to a walker, and a broken nose, Orange County District Attorney’s Office Spokeswoman Kimberly Edds said.

The girl also had her feet pricked with a needle and was abused with scissors, a knife and a bat, Edds added.

The motive for the torture was not clear.

The girl was able to get to UCLA Medical Center on June 15, 2018. Officials at the medical center contacted the Anaheim Police Department, and the four adults were arrested on June 16 and 17.

Shortly after the arrest, police said that the adults were suspected of doing “absolutely horrific things” to the girl. Early court filings indicated that a hammer, pins and an awl were used during the torture.

The four defendants opted for a bench trial in which a judge rather than jury decided the case. They are scheduled to return to court for sentencing on Dec. 1.
