1 of 2 killed at Anaheim GardenWalk might have been run over, police say

One of the two men left dead during a large fight apparently between patrons of an Anaheim GardenWalk night club early Sunday, May 21, died possibly after a vehicle fleeing the scene plowed into him, police said on Monday.

What led to the violence was still unknown.

“We’re looking into it,” said Sgt. Jon McClintock, a spokesman for Anaheim police.

Anaheim police said they believe the fight began between two groups of patrons at the GardenWalk’s Heat Ultra Lounge. It then spilled into the mall’s parking structure.

The two victims were found when police got to the structure in the 300 block of West Katella Avenue at around 2 a.m.

Deonte Marquis Lenin, 32, of Highland was found shot to death.

Elian Tanori Arvayo, 21, of Phoenix was also found in the parking structure in a different area than Lenin. Arvayo was taken to a local hospital, where he died of blunt-force trauma, McClintock said.

On Sunday, Anaheim police said witnesses called them reporting the shooting and someone being run over with a vehicle at the parking structure. On Monday, McClintock said detectives were still trying to determine how Arvayo was killed.

It was unclear how many people were involved in the fight.

Police asked anyone with information about the fight to call them at 714-321-3669.
