HUNTINGTON BEACH – A 59-year-old woman died early Sunday after she was reported missing from a yacht during a holiday party and was found in the water.
The woman has been identified as Karen Dewolf-Brown of Quail Valley, said Jaimee L. Blashaw, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, authorities responded to a 32-foot-long yacht docked at Peter’s Landing after a woman was reported missing from the boat, Blashaw said.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Harbor Patrol pulled Dewolf-Brown from the water, Blashaw said. She was unresponsive and taken to an area hospital, where she died early Sunday.
Huntington Beach police were investigating how the woman ended up in the water.
