Vehicle pursued by deputies in Orange County crashes into another vehicle, critically injuring a motorist

SANTA ANA — Orange County sheriff’s deputies pursued a vehicle because of a vehicle code violation, and the fleeing motorist crashed into another vehicle, critically injuring a person in it Saturday night.

The deputies began pursuing the vehicle, which allegedly had an undisclosed code violation, from the Orange area until it crashed into the victim’s vehicle at Santa Clara and Tustin Avenues in Santa Ana about 8:25 p.m., said Santa Ana police Commander Sergio Enriquez.

The length and nature of the chase were not immediately disclosed.

The person in the vehicle who was struck by the fleeing driver was critically injured.

It was not immediately clear if there were any other injuries, or whether an arrest was made.
