Two suspects in downtown Huntington Beach stabbing arrested

Two men were behind bars Wednesday, April 3, on suspicion of stabbing a woman during an altercation in downtown Huntington Beach.

Police were called about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to Main Street and Walnut Avenue on a report of an argument that escalated into violence, said Huntington Beach police Officer Angela Bennett.

Officers arrived to find the victim, a woman in her 30s, with a knife in her abdomen, Bennett said. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what was described as a non-life-threatening wound, the officer said.

Multiple witnesses provided the license plate number of the car in which the suspects made their getaway, Bennett said. Officers spotted the vehicle nearby and arrested Brandon Lebrun, 23, of Glendora and Dominic Piraino, 19, of Covina, she said.

They were both booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and Piraino was additionally booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Bennett said.

It was not clear what prompted the dispute or what relationship, if any, the men had with the victim, whose name was withheld, she said.

Lebrun was being held in the Huntington Beach jail and Piraino was transferred to the Orange County Jail, Bennett said.
