SEAL BEACH — A man and woman were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of leading Seal Beach police on a chase in a pickup truck with a stolen motorcycle in the back.
Officers were called to the Leisure World retirement community about 4:30 a.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle, said Seal Beach police Sgt. Michael Henderson.
When police tried to stop the Toyota Tacoma at Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain Road, the driver accelerated and led them on a chase that went through Long Beach, Los Alamitos and then back into Seal Beach, where it ended at Seal Beach Boulevard and Old Ranch Road, Henderson said.
The driver ultimately stopped and Ryan Putney, 33, and Amee Harvasty, 32, both of Garden Grove, were arrested, Henderson said.
Police recovered the stolen motorcycle in the back of the pickup truck and returned it to the owner, Henderson said.
Police were investigating similar thefts in the Leisure World area, he said.
Anyone with information helpful to investigators was asked to call Detective Samantha Mathias at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1108.
