A Santa Ana police officer and two others were injured after a driver fleeing police crashed into another vehicle that then went into a squad car, police said Friday, Aug. 7.

The chase began at around 10:35 p.m. Thursday when police tried to pull over a parolee in the area of 300 North Harbor Boulevard, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. The man did not comply and kept driving.

Police chased after the car, which was traveling east on McFadden Avenue when it crossed Euclid Avenue on a red light, police said, hitting a sedan in the intersection.

That sedan lost control and hit a patrol unit involved in the pursuit that was going west on McFadden.

The officer and suspect were admitted to a hospital but expected to recover. A passenger in the sedan was hurt but not hospitalized.

Police arrested the suspect, Simon Bradley Sulusi of Long Beach, on suspicion of felony evading, felony driving under the influence and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
