CARSON >> Authorities were searching for a man who led them on a high-speed chase in a pickup truck tonight that began in Orange County and ended in Carson where he abandoned the truck and ran into a residential area.
It wasn’t immediately clear exactly when and where the chase began but CHP officers in Los Angeles County picked it up around 10:30 p.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway in Long Beach, according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.
Authorities were pursuing the truck for speed, Polizzi said.
During the chase, the truck reached speeds upwards 100 mph and ran red lights while blacked out.
The chase ended around 11:20 p.m. when the suspect fled the truck on foot in a residential neighborhood in the area of Water and East 213th streets in Carson.
Authorities were searching for the man in between homes. Sheriff’s officials said Carson Station deputies were assisting CHP in the search and advised residents to stay inside their homes late Friday night.
