Placentia to get 26 new townhomes on Golden Avenue

Placentia will get 26 more townhomes following the sale of the land that will hold the new Villena community.

Brandywine Homes paid $3.5 million for the 1.3-acre site at 1049 Golden Ave., near Imperial Highway and Rose Drive., said Dan Blackwell of the CBRE brokerage that handled the sale.

The vacant land will hold three-story townhomes, designed by KTGY, ranging in size from 1,530 to 1,775 square feet with up to four bedrooms and four bathrooms. No pricing information was available.

“Villena represents the best of what Brandywine Homes creates; new homes in livable and walkable communities near shopping, transportation and entertainment,” said Brandywine CEO Brett Whitehead.

Builders countywide are seeing sales rebound from pandemic lows.

Orange County in July had 220 new homes sales, 21% above April but down 0.5% vs. a year earlier. July’s median new-home sales price? $972,500 — up 9% in a year.

That’s given builders a bit of confidence to construct more.

In Los Angeles and Orange counties, July Census states showed plans for 2,715 residences — for ownership and rental units — were permitted, That was 123% above May — but still 7% below July 2019. Over the past 12 months, 28,866 units were permitted — 9% below the five-year average.
