Fontana, Ontario police investigating video of apparent animal abuse

Multiple agencies are investigating a video that appears to show a cat being thrown high into the air, killing the animal.
A tweet posted Friday night showing a roughly teenage boy throwing the cat and listing contact information for A.B. Miller High School in Fontana had more than 15,000 retweets by the morning of Saturday, Dec. 2.
This publication is not providing the tweet because of its graphic content.
Fontana police were not immediately available, but the agency said on Twitter that they had determined the incident took place outside of their jurisdiction and were working with the appropriate jurisdiction; the tweet did not elaborate on which jurisdiction was handling the case.

We are aware of a video that depicts the abuse of a cat. We thank everyone for contacting our department with the video. It has been determined that the incident took place outside our city and we are working with the appropriate jurisdiction to find the cat and the suspect.

Online comments suggesting it happened in Ontario were being investigated, said Ontario police Sgt. Stafford Cross.
“We have some officers looking into it right now,” Stafford said Saturday morning. “We don’t know who the person is or where it occurred. We heard via Twitter that it happened in Ontario, and we’re trying to find out if that’s true.”
