Coronavirus tracker: California reported 830 new cases and 18 new deaths as of May 9

In California, 830 new cases of the coronavirus were reported, bringing the total number of cases so far to 3,731,505, according to Sunday’s end-of-day totals on public health websites.

The daily average of new cases over the last 14 days was at 1,878 as of Sunday, May 9.

There were 18 new deaths reported statewide Sunday, for a total of 61,952 people who have died from COVID-19.

The state reported seven fewer hospitalizations from the previous day, decreasing the total hospitalizations of those infected with the coronavirus to 1,860.

According to the California Department of Public Health, 31.9 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state and 34.8% of residents are now fully vaccinated.
