Enjoy Irish dancing, an acclaimed jazz series, family science fairs, a Lantern Festival celebration, a party for Dia de los Reyes, and more all in one spot. Segerstrom Center for the Arts wanted to provide O.C. residents a place with “no barriers to participation,” according to the nonprofit’s president, Terry Dwyer. The Julianne and George Argyros Plaza, which marked its one-year anniversary Oct. 28, has achieved that mission and then some. From events with large draws such as a Hamiltunes singalong to the more personal connections made at a Veteran’s Day salute, “the plaza reflects the center’s commitment to our community,” Dwyer says.
