YORBA LINDA — A 75-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday to charges of sexually assaulting a female relative, beginning when she was a toddler growing up in Yorba Linda more than three decades ago.
James Scott Davis is scheduled to be sentenced March 16.
The victim came forward in December 2016 to accuse the defendant of molesting her beginning when she was about 3 years old, and continuing through middle school, according to Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Reed. The allegations triggered an investigation that resulted in the case filing on June 1, she said.
The statute of limitations prevents prosecutors from alleging any crimes before Jan. 1, 1988, Reed noted.
The victim is about 40 now, Reed said.
“We barely made the statute of limitations,” she said.
