A five-bedroom La Quinta golf retreat owned by Steele Platt, the founder of Yard House restaurants, is for sale at $10 million.

The asking price is 47% more than the $6.8 million the restauranteur paid for the property in 2012, records show.

Set on more than a three-quarter-acre lot in the exclusive Madison Club community, the estate features an 8,299-square-foot, Mediterranean-style house, a two-bedroom guest house and a rock waterfall swimming pool and spa.

A rotunda entryway opens on the great room with a wet bar. Beyond, there’s a wine room, gourmet kitchen, theater and home office.

The large master suite has a see-through fireplace, a sitting room and a spa-inspired bathroom with a double glass-enclosed shower, a jetted tub with a fireplace and a private outdoor patio.

Motorized pocket doors open to the covered outdoor living area, putting green, fire pit area and pool.

Valery Neuman of Compass has the listing.

Platt founded the Yard House sports bar chain in Long Beach in 1996. As he told the Orange County Register in 2006, his vision for the popular eatery came from the Denver bar he owned called the Boiler Room.

“People come for the beer and are amazed by the food,” he said back when he had 15 restaurants under his belt.

There are now 80 Yard House locations nationwide.
