What Lara Logan said to get booted from right-wing Newsmax

The right-wing channel Newsmax has banned Lara Logan from its programs after she went on a QAnon-style rant during an appearance on the network.

In a bizarre interview Wednesday, Logan told host Eric Bolling, “The open border is Satan’s way of taking control of the world through all of these people who are his stooges and his servants.”

She continued: “And they may think that they’re going to become gods. That’s what they tell us. … You know, the ones who want us eating insects, cockroaches and that, while they dine on the blood of children? Those are the people, right?”

The statement echoes the antisemitic “blood libel” myth that has become a pillar of the QAnon canon — the claim that a satanic cabal of pedophiles who drink the blood of children is secretly running the world.

Logan said a “global cabal” is planning to bring 100 million illegal immigrants to the United States to “dilute the pool of patriots,” and the White House supports the plan because it wants to incite violence from the right.

“This administration is desperate to incite some kind of event, incite people to an act that will prove the lie of white terrorism and white supremacy in America today and give them an excuse to crack down. They need a Reichstag fire,” she said.

Logan, who had made several recent appearances on Bolling’s prime-time show, was the lead guest Wednesday in what was billed as a discussion of the busing of migrants from red states to New York City.

On Thursday, the network said it was her last appearance. “Newsmax condemns in the strongest terms the reprehensible statements made by Lara Logan, and her views do not reflect our network,” a network spokesperson said. “We have no plans to interview her again.”

Logan did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.

Logan, 51, who is from South Africa, worked for more than 15 years at CBS, rising to chief foreign affairs correspondent. In 2013, she took a leave of absence after a story of hers on the Benghazi attack was found to have factual errors.

She left CBS in 2018 and joined the Sinclair Broadcast Group before eventually becoming a regular fixture on Fox News’ right-wing talk programs.

Her rhetoric became increasingly incendiary and conspiratorial, and she has not appeared on Fox since she last year compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Nazi “angel of death” Josef Mengele.

Logan said earlier this year that she was “dumped” by Fox News.
