A gated Newport Beach mansion overlooking Big Canyon Country Club’s second fairway is up for sale at $21.5 million.

Located in guard-gated Big Canyon, the 9,498-square-foot, traditional-style home has five bedrooms and six bathrooms and sits on a nearly two-third-acre cul-de-sac lot with a large pool and spa.

Tech entrepreneur Chad Steelberg and his wife, Cristina, purchased the home in 2015 for $8.75 million, records show. The 50-year-old co-founder of several Internet software companies is currently chairman and CEO of Veritone, which built the first operating system for AI.

Completed in 1999, the country club estate has a butler’s pantry, formal dining room and eat-in kitchen with a walk-in pantry, island and checkered marble floors.

Two separate staircases offer access to the second-floor primary suite. It features a sitting room, two walk-in closets, a spa-like bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower and a private balcony with golf course views.

All the main-level living areas open to the outdoors where gardens, a dining pavilion, built-in barbecue area, koi pond and fire pit share the grounds with the large pool.

There’s also a pool house with a living area warmed by a fireplace.

Tim Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty is the listing agent.
