GARDEN GROVE — A male driver and female passenger were injured after their vehicle ran into a fire hydrant and an Edison power pole, Monday, Dec. 25, according to Garden Grove Police.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at 10:40 a.m. on Garden Grove Boulevard just east of Beach Boulevard. Witnesses reported a grey sedan traveling westbound on Garden Grove Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, it veered into the eastbound lanes before shearing a fire hydrant.
The vehicle came to rest after striking the power pole. There was no power outage as a result of the crash.
The Garden Grove Fire Department and Garden Grove Police Department were called out to help the two occupants, who were trapped inside the wreckage for more than 30 minutes before they were extracted.
Both occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to UCI Medical Center and were listed in stable condition, officials said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department and Traffic Investigator Royce Wimmer at 714-741-5823.
