Suspects in Santa Ana robbery in crash after police pursuit

One person was in custody Wednesday night after a pursuit of robbery suspects ended in a crash of their vehicle, Santa Ana Police Department officials said.

Officers responded to a call of a robbery at a drugstore in Santa Ana just after 8:45 p.m. and a vehicle pursuit began, Cpl. Maria Lopez, a spokesperson for the Santa Ana Police Department, said.

The car crashed and overturned beside a 5 Freeway off-ramp near Magnolia Avenue in Fullerton. The cause of the crash was under investigation, but the car is not believed to have come into contact with any police vehicle, said Lopez.

Two people believed to also have been in the car were outstanding. It was not immediately known if there was any injuries or what exactly was taken from the drugstore.

Police didn’t immediately disclose the location of the store that was robbed.

The investigation was ongoing.
