Status Update: Wild Fork bringing its specialty meats to 2 new cities

Wild Fork, a specialty meat store and delivery service, is expanding in Orange County, opening its second and third locations in Costa Mesa and Laguna Niguel.

The store in Costa Mesa is taking the place of the shuttered Ready, Fit, Go health food store at 495 East 17th St. In Laguna Niguel, Wild Forks is taking the place of a long-shuttered Carl’s Jr.

Wild Fork, with a packaging facility in Riverside County, sells beef, pork, chicken, lamb and seafood in addition to specialty meats like bison, venison, goat, goose, quail and duck.

Shoppers can opt to visit the store or have meat delivered home. Members pay $29 annually for free delivery service on purchases that top $35.

The company’s first store opened in 2021 in Mission Viejo in a former Walgreens. No timeline was provided by the company on when the new stores would open.

Job openings listed online indicate they’re still looking for retail managers for both stores.

Giving Day will benefit 5 local nonprofits

The Orange County Community Foundation will host Stand & Salute, a collaborative online Giving Day, on Thursday, June 23.

The goal is to raise $175,000 for five local nonprofits serving veterans and their families in Orange County.

Nonprofit participants include 2-1-1 Orange County, Goodwill of Orange County, Strong Families, Strong Children, a program of Child Guidance Center, Support The Enlisted Project, and Working Wardrobes.

Orange County’s Credit Union’s President and CEO Shruti Miyashiro has resigned from the Santa Ana-based bank, effective July 21. She is joining Digital Federal Credit Union as its president and CEO, effective Aug. 1. The credit union’s board of directors said it is working with the executive management team to “form a transition plan.” OCCU was formed in 1938 and has 120,000 members and more than $2 billion in assets.

Judge Robert J. Moss, formerly of the Orange County Superior Court, has joined Judicate West’s roster of neutrals. Based in the Santa Ana office, he is available as a mediator, arbitrator and private judge for matters throughout the state. He brings 50 years of legal experience and recently retired after two decades on the Orange County Superior Court bench. Judicate West is a provider of private dispute resolution services.

Rachel Hass Reinus has joined the Costa Mesa office of Haynes and Boone as a partner. She joins the corporate law firm from the Hedge Fund Solutions division of UBS Asset Management, where she was an executive director of investment structuring. She also served as a vice president at PAAMCO Prisma.

John Olivier, the president and chief executive of Fuscoe Engineering in Irvine, has been inducted into UC Irvine’s Hall of Fame. He was honored by UC Irvine’s Samueli School of Engineering. Olivier, an Orange resident, has worked at Fuscoe Engineering since its founding in 1992. He’s also a graduate of UCI’s class of 1985 and was a member of the university’s water polo team. The 200-person employee-owned Fuscoe provides civil engineering, survey and mapping, sustainable site design and geospatial technology services for land development and public infrastructure.

Diaper Drive a rousing success

Tustin-based HomeAid Orange County collected more than 650,000 essential items at its annual Diaper Drive held June 10 at Christ Cathedral. All of the donations will go to support families with babies and toddlers experiencing or at risk of homelessness

Annual walk raises $120,000 for visually impaired

The 18th Annual Destination Independence Walk + Family Fair, hosted by Santa Ana-based Beyond Blindness, drew a crowd of 645 attendees who raised $120,000 for programs and services that promote independence for children with visual impairments and other disabilities.

In recognition of its 60th anniversary, the agency merged the non-competitive Destination Independence Walk with its Family Fair for the first time so walkers and families could celebrate the milestone year together at Beyond Blindness headquarters.

Fundraiser will provide clean water to Uganda

Irvine-based Pacific Dental Services’ Smile Generation raised $720,000 during a fundraising campaign from April 1 to May 31, exceeding a goal to raise $600,000.

The money will go toward bringing clean, safe drinking water to underserved populations.

Participating Smile Generation dental practices offered $100 off dental treatment for every donation of $30, with all funds going toward providing clean water. The campaign’s goal was to raise $600,000.

All money raised goes toward providing clean drinking water to vulnerable populations in Uganda through the construction of community-owned, sustainable and safe water sources.
