Mark Steiman has joined CHOC as executive director of human resources. He will lead employee relations and engagement strategies for the pediatric healthcare system. Most recently, Steiman served as chief operating officer and chief experience officer for the Newport Orthopedic Institute.

Ryan Olsen is the new chief operating officer at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills. He replaces Cheryl Jacob who retired after 37 years with MemorialCare in various leadership positions. Olsen previously served since 2015 as chief operating officer and senior vice president at Cedars Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute.
Adele Nasr of Anaheim Hills has joined Home Franchise Concepts of Orange in the newly created position of vice president of digital marketing. HFC, based in Orange, is the parent company of the Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft brands. Nasr comes to HFC from 3 Day Blinds in Irvine, where she was director of marketing.

Together they will work on developing and guiding treatment tailored to “previvors” — women who have tested positive for a genetic mutation that increases their risk for breast and/or ovarian cancer. Abaid has been a member of Hoag Medical Staff since 2008.
Adriana Olsen and Andy Wang have been promoted to senior vice president of sales division at real estate investment firm Passco Cos. in Irvine. Olsen will be responsible for raising funds for deferred sales trust (DST) 1031 properties and other investment vehicles. Before Passco 15 years ago, Olsen served as a licensed real estate agent with Prudential Real Estate. Wang is responsible for sharing accurate and detailed information regarding the company’s DST 1031 products. Wang previously gained worked in financial advising and consulting with Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley.

Paul Zolfaghari with Carrick Capital in Newport Beach has been appointed to the board of Sisense, an analytics software firm. Zolfaghari has two decades of executive experience in the enterprise analytics, business intelligence, and database industries. Zolfaghari is managing partner of operations with Carrick Capital, a private equity firm that partners with software and technology-enabled services companies.
Funding round
NGD Systems in Irvine has completed a Series B financing round that raised $12.4 million. The round was led by new investor Partech Ventures with participation from Orange Digital Ventures. NGD said the proceeds will be used for growth initiatives.
Good works
Costa Mesa-based Mother’s Market & Kitchen has donated $5,000 to environmental education charity Naturalist For You. Funds were collected from a portion of the sale of grocery bags from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, 2017. Based in Silverado, Naturalist For You is an environmental education charity created to connect people to local wilderness by offering free guided nature tours, foraging, wildlife viewing, survival skills, therapy and more. Naturalist For You plans to use the donated funds to support upcoming natural and cultural history experiences.
Milestones
Ed Fuller, president and CEO of the Orange County Visitors Association will receive the Albert E. Koehl Lifetime Achievement Award from HSMAI, a hospitality industry advocacy organization. In addition to his role at OCVA, Fuller is the president and co-founder of Laguna Strategic Advisors, a group of independent hospitality business consultants.
Coming up
The sixth annual KidWorks Classic Golf Tournament at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast will raise funds for programs aimed at helping at-risk youth living in Santa Ana. The tournament is set for May 3. Golfer registration includes a Bloody Mary bar, breakfast, gourmet on-course food and cocktails, on-course contests, plus a dinner and awards ceremony. The scramble-style tournament begins with a 9 a.m. registration, breakfast and access to the driving range, followed by an 11 a.m. shotgun start. At 4:30 pm, the 19th Hole Reception begins, followed at 5:30 pm by the dinner and awards ceremony. The Orange County chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is holding its annual professional development conference Feb. 21 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Brea. The one-day event includes keynote speaker Elizabeth Hannon, founder of Wiser Everyday, two general sessions, and four sessions covering key issues for employers in the area of employee health, safety and injury prevention.
