Several fires set behind Santa Ana homes; man detained

A man set multiple fires on a bike path behind a group of homes in Santa Ana on Wednesday night, Nov. 25, officials said.

The fires were lit just before 1:00 a.m. near the 2800 block of Flower Street. The flames were contained and no damage occurred to the homes or backyards, said Orange County Fire Authority spokesman, Captain Greg Barta.

Santa Ana police detained a man who was nearby in connection with the fires, he said.

A videographer’s footage showed firefighters extinguishing flames in the vicinity of the path as several residents stood out on the street in front of their houses.

No information was immediately available on the man’s identity or why the fires were set.
