A Balboa Peninsula Point home regularly featured on the Netflix series “Selling the OC” as star Gio Helou’s family retreat is on the market for $15.895 million.

Helou’s father, the residential developer Carl Helou, was behind its construction.

Built from the ground up in 2013, the 3,817-square-foot bayfront home has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and a rooftop deck. It replaced a teardown on the 3,528-square-foot lot, just steps from the Wedge in Newport Beach.

The waterfront frames floor-to-ceiling windows of the eat-in gourmet kitchen and great room. A fireplace anchors the living area, which has a bar and a below-grade wine cellar. The glass wall opens to extend the communal area outdoors onto a deck with a built-in barbecue, fire pit and ramp down to the private dock that can accommodate up to a 35-foot yacht.

“It really encapsulates the Newport Beach lifestyle with how it’s positioned on the waterfront,” Helou said by phone. “You can jump in the water from the dock or hop on paddleboards. You have a front-row seat to a boat show every weekend because if a boat is going out to the ocean, they have to pass your house. It’s an endless flurry of beautiful sailboats and magnificent yachts constantly cruising by.”

The waterfront activity is visible from the balcony that runs the length of the top-floor primary suite. Accessible by staircase and elevator, the suite includes a bedroom, walk-in closet, seating area with a fireplace and bathroom with double vanities, a makeup area, an oversized shower and two water closets.

A rooftop deck features a spa, lounge seating area and 360-degree views of the bay, Corona del Mar and the ocean.

Helou shares the listing with his mom and fellow agent at The Oppenheim Group, Lisa Helou. She has appeared in several episodes of the Netflix series.

Season 2 of “Selling the OC” returns sometime this year and will again feature the home.

While the listing coincides with “Selling the OC” boss Jason Oppenheim’s Newport Beach home hitting the market at just shy of $15 million, Helou chalked it up to coincidental timing.

But given the show’s popularity, could a need for privacy have played into the decision to sell?

“The thing is the house is flashy, I have a flashy car and it’s become a bit of the scene there,” he said. “So it’s played a small factor but by no means is it the deciding factor.”
