Police seek driver after pedestrian is fatally struck in Westminster

A man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver near a Westminster intersection on Sunday, Jan. 15, and authorities were seeking the suspect.

At around 2:30 a.m., the victim was walking in the area near the Newland Street and Hazard Avenue intersection when the suspect driver struck the victim and fled, according to Westminster Police Commander Kevin MacCormick. The victim was found lying in the northbound lanes of Newland Street and pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether the victim was crossing the road at time he was struck. His identity had not been released Sunday pending notification of family.

A description of the suspect vehicle was also not available Sunday while authorities continued their investigation at the intersection, MacCormick said.
