An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a Santa Ana teenager last month.
Miguel Angel Benitez, 18, from Santa Ana, was found around 5 p.m. on Sept. 2 on the 1600 South block of Evergreen Street and died from multiple gunshot wounds.
On Thursday night, Oct. 21, detectives stopped a vehicle in known gang territory for violating traffic laws and made contact with four known gang members, the police department said in a statement released Friday.
All four suspected were arrested and transported to the Santa Ana Police Department for further interviews with homicide detective. David Lopez, 20, from Santa Ana was booked for murder and is currently in custody.
Officials did not release any further details about the circumstances of the shooting or other suspects arrested as it was still an active homicide investigation. The shooting was being investigated as a gang-related incident.
