Owner of Santa Ana boxing club suspected of molesting 13-year-old girls

Detectives arrested a Riverside man who owns a boxing club in Santa Ana Thursday, Oct. 1, on suspicion of molesting two underage girls.

Edgar Ferraez Rivera, 45, of Riverside coaches at and owns the So Cal Boxing Academy at 1310 E Edinger Ave., Santa Ana Police said in a news release. He was arrested Wednesday, then booked on suspicion of two separate incidents of child molestation.

Both victims were 13-years-old, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. The most recent case was reported several days before Rivera was taken into custody.

Rivera was arrested in the other case in 2017, but charges were not filed at the time, Bertagna said.

Rivera was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of both incidents in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to inmate records. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday. Calls to a number listed for the boxing club did not immediately yield a response Thursday afternoon.

Authorities suspect Rivera might have committed other crimes, police said. Officials asked anyone with information that could be relevant to investigators to contact Detective Nick Vega or Officer Matthew Thomas at 714-245-9368.
