One killed, another injured in Hawaiian Gardens shooting

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Hawaiian Gardens early Saturday, authorities said.

Around 1 a.m., authorities were initially called to the intersection of Norwalk Boulevard and 226th Street for a reported assault with a deadly weapon, according to Deputy Amy Fantom, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds a few blocks east along a residential sidewalk in the 22300 block of Wardham Avenue.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to a hospital though information on his condition was not immediately  available.

The identity of the deceased was not released pending notification of family. A description of the suspected shooter was not available.
