HUNTINGTON BEACH — One person suffered minor injuries after a driver lost control of a vehicle and it crashed into an apartment building in Huntington Beach the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 6, fire officials said.
Huntington Beach firefighters responded to the call at 2:27 p.m. in the 7200 block of Heil Avenue. The driver of the vehicle lost control and it slammed into the building and also ended up striking a fence and a garage, said Huntington Beach Fire Capt. Carl Corbin.
The structures suffered minor to moderate damage, he said. Members of the Huntington Beach Urban Search and Rescue Team shored up the building, Corbin said. A building inspector later determined that it was safe for occupants to remain there and return power to the building, he said.
The vehicle’s driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, but refused to be transported to a hospital, Corbin said. No one else was injured and residents were not displaced, he said.
No further information was available regarding what caused the collision. No arrests or citations were reported.
