Man shot after chasing suspected taggers in Anaheim

A man was shot following a confrontation with suspected gang members over graffiti in Anaheim early Tuesday, July 27, leaving him hospitalized, authorities said.

The victim, who is expected to survive, and a relative noticed the suspects spraying graffiti in the 100 block of North Tustin Avenue, just north of Santa Ana Canyon Road, about 12:40 a.m., Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said.

As the victim and the relative approached, the suspects ran off and they gave chase. Then one suspect turned around and fired a round and hit the man, Carringer said.

Gang detectives were handling the investigation.
