Man in critical condition after being struck by his own car in Garden Grove

A man was critically injured Friday, July 24, after being struck by a car he had been driving after a passenger took the wheel of the vehicle, according to police.

Around 1:45 p.m., Garden Grove officers responded to the 12000 block of Tamerlane Drive, where they found a man lying in the street, police said in a news release.

The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital. His name was not released and details regarding his injuries were not immediately available Saturday.

An investigation revealed the victim had driven to the location with a male and female passenger. All three individuals got out of the vehicle and began arguing, police said.

“The male passenger got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s vehicle and drove away with the female,” the police statement says. “As the male suspect fled the scene, he intentionally hit the victim with the vehicle.”

The investigation is ongoing; any witnesses are asked to contact Garden Grove police at 714-741-5422.
