Man dies after found stabbed outside Anaheim hotel near GardenWalk shopping center

A man found stabbed outside a hotel in Anaheim early Friday, Feb. 26, died and a suspect arrested after trying to flee from police.

An anonymous caller reported to police just after midnight that someone had been stabbed during a fight at the Clementine Hotel & Suites, Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Pena said.

“They gave a detailed description of the suspect involved,” Pena said.

When officers arrived to the hotel, at Disney Way and Clementine Street, they found a man in the courtyard suffering from at least one stab wound in the chest. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Officers spotted the suspect at the neighboring Anaheim GardenWalk , a shopping and entertainment center, Pena said. He ran off, but officers with the help of a helicopter eventually found him on the roof of the 24 Hour Fitness in the complex, police said.

Pena said the suspect, whose name had not been released, was arrested for resisting officers and being questioned about his involvement with the stabbing.

“It appears both (the suspect and victim) are homeless,” Pena said. “And we don’t know if either was staying at the hotel or if they had any connection to it.”
