Man arrested, suspected of DUI and manslaughter after Seal Beach crash

SEAL BEACH — A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence following a two-vehicle collision in Seal Beach that killed a woman, police announced Friday.

The collision occurred about 3:40 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, near the Leisure World retirement community, according to Seal Beach Police Department Lt. Nick Nicholas.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were called to the scene and transported three people for medical treatment. Both drivers were taken to a hospital, along with a passenger.

The woman who had been driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the hospital, Nicholas said. Her name was not released pending notification of her next of kin. It was unclear how old she was.

German Juarez of Los Angeles suffered minor injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter and booked into the Orange County Jail following his release, he said.

The passenger, whose description was not provided, suffered what was only described as non-life threatening injuries, he said. It was unclear in which vehicle the passenger had been riding.
