Man arrested on suspicion of killing girlfriend in Huntington Beach apartment

A 34-year-old man was taken into custody Friday on suspicion of killing his girlfriend in a Huntington Beach apartment earlier this week, authorities said.

Huntington Beach police received reports of an assault in progress from an apartment complex in the 8400 block of Jenny Drive, near Newland Avenue, about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said. They arrived to find 25-year-old Laura Sardinha dead inside an apartment, police said.

Also inside was her boyfriend, Craig Charron, who was injured, police said. He was arrested about 10 a.m. Friday on suspicion of murder following treatment at a hospital.

Further details about the alleged attack, including a motive, were not immediately known. Sardinha was stabbed to death, according to a coroner’s report.

Charron was being held in jail on $10 million bail.
