Man accused of stealing cash from a Fullerton pizzeria while making himself a pie

A thief took up a downtown Fullerton pizzeria’s offer to build your own pie – right in the middle of burglarizing the restaurant, police said.

Security footage recorded Sunday, Nov. 8 shows a man who broke into Big Slice Pizza slip on a pair of gloves before tossing a lump of dough in the restaurant’s kitchen. The suspect topped and baked the pizza while emptying the business’s cash drawers and lifting several tablets, police said. He then fled in the restaurant’s delivery car.

Police identified the man in the video as Oscar Alexander Sanchez, 25. He was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 11, Fullerton Police Cpl. Billy Phu said. Prosecutors charged him Friday, Nov. 13, on suspicion of grand theft, grand theft auto, second degree burglary, the possession of burglary tools and other crimes, according to court records.

Sanchez was already a defendant in another theft case filed Oct. 28, and was free on bail at the time the pizzeria was burglarized. His criminal history includes a previous felony conviction for grand theft auto, court records show.

Details regarding the value of the property taken, or what toppings were added to the pilfered pizza, were not immediately released.
