Look up starting at 2 p.m., historic planes might fly over to celebrate July 4th

Two different groups of pilots are planning Fourth of July flights over parts of Orange and Los Angeles counties Saturday afternoon, July 4.

At 2 p.m., the “Willa Dean,” a C-47 military transport plane, and two Marchetti SF-260 aerobatic planes are scheduled to pass over the city of Orange, then fly over Buena Park at 2:15 p.m. and La Habra at 2:30 p.m. The spectacle was organized by the Lyon Air Museum and Air Combat USA in conjunction with the three cities.

Also starting at 2 p.m., the Southern California-based Tiger Squadron is scheduled to fly its military heritage planes over Yorba Linda, including the Nixon Presidential Library & Museum, and then pass over the Huuntington Beach Pier at 2:17 p.m., and continue north passing the USS Iowa Battleship turned museum, reaching Rolling Hills Estates at 2:33 p.m. and the Torrance area around 2:36 p.m.

The squadron’s Facebook page said the flight would also cross over Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, but did not specify times.
