Limited evacuations ordered after grenade found in vacant Anaheim apartment

A grenade found while someone was cleaning a vacant apartment in Anaheim led to limited evacuations on Wednesday, but was ultimately found to be inert, authorities said.

Anaheim police received a call just past 11 a.m. of a grenade found in the apartment in the 500 block of Pauline Street, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.

The Sheriff’s Department’s bomb squad responded and limited evacuations were ordered while police investigated.

About 12:30 p.m., the grenade was deemed inert, Wyatt said.
