Laid-off tech worker from Chino makes free desks for at-home students-media-1

Woodworker Chai Hansanuwat assembles a desk for a student Tuesday afternoon Sept. 29, 2020 in the backyard of his Chino home. After being laid off from his job due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Hansanuwat started making inexpensive desks for kids stuck at home doing distance learning. He started a gofundme campaign and has raised close to $9,000 and has recruited other woodworkers to help make the desks that were originally going to 500 students. His order total is now close to 900. Many parents can’t afford to buy them with many stores being sold out of desks for young students. (Photo by Will Lester, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin/SCNG)
